whoaaa, this one was good

a tearjerker(!) found myself welling up numerous times, which i think is expected here

a man -- young & athletic first adopts a dog [the story here is great; how a yip & paw-shake-offering gets his attention]

later, Ben is seeing alarming symptoms in his own body of something wrong, & winds up w/ colorectal cancer -- this is a story in itself, & is beautifully & artfully constructed as a narrative of friendship between him & Denali

Ben survives & finds his way back/into a life of climbing, surfing, photography, etc.; even w/ his post-surgery appliances [bag]

Denali's life is long & glorious; full of character, & notably, Ben is brought to repay the favor when health starts waning for his companion

really really really inspiring stuff -- highly recommended
