well this was good

thoroughly enjoyed -- a thought-provoking & spanning concept of "stoned ape" theory, which is something like connecting humanity's clear penchant for mild-altering substances [see: conscience] driving our evolution, industries, cartels, science, etc.

he goes from ancient concoctions like soma to more modern substances like heroin & LSD; touching on DMT & Ayahuasca, magic mushrooms, & so on...

this actually provided an excellent case for this notion, which seems logical & well-attested -- also w/ plenty of factoids for the ol' trivia [noting that tobacco has yet to be prohibited, likely for good reason]

ultimately, the conclusion seems to be that Free Man MUST be given allowance of his nature to self-explore using these & such substances, w/ respect to the safety & wellness of others [of course]

i'd like to read more of McKenna's books, although see he passed in 2000; so will try
