well, this is exactly as advertised -- a book advocating "growing a backbone" AKA being assertive & reaping the benefits -- or pay the consequences/make the mistakes(!)

she gives plenty of examples -- mostly business-related [as is the focus of the book] on ways of conduct that garner "having backbone" & what their effects brings

i found it a bit lengthy/wordy, as it's expressing a fairly simple/straightforward concept at drawn-out depths, altho good still

in the end, the conclusion is like, "hey, Grow a Backbone™ & start being rewarded or keep making silly mistakes & being weak/passive"
